At Christmas, decorating trees is one of the highlights. My mom often had more than one tree decorated for Christmas and I even had my Christmas tree, a table Christmas tree, set up in my room. And once you have a tree it gives people a frugal Christmas gift option for you, an ornament!

This Christmas, decorating trees can be turned into an exercise in frugality. Depending on your budget and whether you already have some of the items, you can create a great tree.

Before Christmas, decorating trees should be planned out. If you have a fake tree the you are in luck, if not then consider your options. While a real tree is wanted by many people, it is not actually your most frugal option. You will have to purchase a real tree every year which is not cost effective over time and you have to spend the gas each year to drive out to the country to cut it yourself.

My Christmas tree is fake. My Christmas tree was a hand-me-down from the in-laws so we didn’t pay anything for it. You may want to look in your local classified ads (online or newspaper), garage sales, or after the holiday sales for cheap trees.

If you cannot afford to purchase a large tree this year, in any form, then you may look at a table Christmas tree instead. A table Christmas tree is much smaller and sits on top of a table. A table Christmas tree can be found for as little as ten dollars. Look at it as a cheap Christmas gift to yourself.

If you have your heart set on the new pre-lighted trees then shop after Christmas as they go on sale quite a bit.
