Molasses Cornish Hen may sound odd and it may not look that appealing but it is very scrumptious. I recommend it with a vegetable and rice mixture but it would also work with anything you normally have with chicken.
Frugal Tips for Molasses Cornish Hen
Look for whole cornish hens or whole chickens on sale for this great meal to save money. If it is too much for one meal it can be used just as you would a roasted chicken for leftovers.
*All of my dinner recipes can be used with dairy or made into dairy free recipe versions. I have a milk allergy while my husband does not so I often try to make recipes in which substitions can be made either way. My dinner recipes are also made to be as frugal as possible.
Molasses Cornish Hen
Gather It Up!
1 Whole Cornish Hen (could use chicken of course)
2 tbsp dark molasses
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp soy sauce
pinch of ginger powder
1 tsp of garlic powder
Cook It Up!
Combine all the ingredients together. Brush half of the molasses mixture onto the cornish hen. Cover with foil and bake for half the time that the cornish hen states or, if using chicken, cook as you normally would. Halfway through take the foil off and brush occasionally with the molasses mixture until cornish hen is cooked through.
Serve It Up!
I love this meal with rice and veggies. It may look like it is burnt but mmmm, it tastes so good and crunchy!
