turkey-burger-homemade-helperBefore my milk allergy was diagnosed I would eat up some Hamburger Helper! This is one meal that I have missed but, as the hubby doesn’t care for it, I didn’t try to come up with a dairy free version until the last year. I loved it and will often have it for lunch! I love to save money and eat comfort food!

Frugal Tips for Homemade Helper

While the brand name is Hamburger Helper, you do not have to use beef! Ground turkey is often about half the price of ground beef, making it a much more frugal alternative than beef.

*All of my recipes can be used with dairy or made into dairy free recipe versions. I have a milk allergy while my husband does not so I often try to make recipes in which substitions can be made either way. My homemade helper recipes are also made to be as frugal as possible.

Gather It Up!

2 cups egg noodles (more noodles if your stretching your food)
1 pound ground turkey (or half pound if you are stretching your food)
1 can corn with the liquid
8 cubes of Chicken Broth

Cook It Up!

Cook the ground turkey until browned in a large pan. Add corn with liquid, broth, and egg noodles. Add water until it just covers the egg noodles. Bring to a boil, cover and lower heat to a simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

Serve It Up!

This homemade helper can be made to eat by itself or serve it up with a salad and some breadsticks.
