While not a work at home job becoming a substitute teacher is a great job for mothers with school aged children.
There are many reasons a mother, or even a SAHW, would find becoming a substitute teacher an attractive job. You usually get to pick which days you would like to work or not work, the pay is decent, and you would be working the hours your children were in school and off when they are off.
Becoming a substitute teacher would allow a parent to bring money into the home without having to pay for babysitting, and lets the parent become more actively involved in the school system their child attends.
There are a few requirements to becoming a substitute teacher. Many schools require at least 60 credit hours of college level course work and you must pass a background check. Our school system even lets you choose jobs based on your own interests or experiences.
I tried becoming a substitute teacher but my other work does not allow extra time for this job. I do believe it would be wonderful for many and is a job that often needing to be filled in many towns.
