Thanksgiving Planning Part 4 : Make It Special

Thanksgiving planning should also involve something special to make your holiday stand out over what you think of as the traditional Thanksgiving Day. It is important that each person feels special and that they take away great memories of the holiday.
Many families go around the table during dinner and state what they are thankful for this year but there are many other special ideas you can do when planning for the day.
Set up a photo corner with a digital camera on one tripod and a camcorder on the other. Families can take pictures of themselves as a memento of the day and can use the camcorder to video tape a Thanksgiving message. After the day you can make a regular scrapbook and a video scrapbook to preserve your memories.
Hold a food drive at your house and have anyone who drops in bring food that you can donate later to a local charity.
Use photos you have of your guests to make personal place cards that each person can take home with them.
Eat your lunch very early or late and spend the rest of the time helping out at a local soup kitchen or charity event.
