I know most of you don’t even want to think about summer ending (and I know some of you are secretly are counting the days down until your kids head back to school), but if you are trying to live a more frugal life then you know the value of planning ahead. Buying everything needed for back to school can stretch the budget of many families. Tax free weekends can be helpful when it comes to saving a bit of money.
Not all states offer tax free weekends, a simple internet search will let you know if your state does and what weekends they are offered. Look for items such as clothing, school supplies, and computers to be a part of the tax free weekends.
Don’t wait until August to try to come up with the money for back to school, start now. Add up how much you think you will need to spend on clothes and supplies and begin setting back money each week to go towards it.
Tax free weekends are not just for the back-to-school buying season, some states, such as Missouri’s Show Me Green Tax Holiday, offer tax free time periods on energy efficient appliances and other items. If you are in the market for a new fridge or washer and dryer you may want to see if your state offers something like this and wait to make your purchase.
